Documenting Good Practices and Lessons Learnt

This collection of case studies selected from the five African Union regions explores how selected countries are evolving innovative and domestic financing models that seeks to expand the fiscal space for health. However it should be highlighted at the outset that these mechanisms are not a panacea for domestic health financing in the long term but rather as short term mechanisms to complement traditional government revenue generation while the tax base is being expanded.

Since 2018, The Strategic Purchasing Africa Resource Center (SPARC) has been a unique and significant force in supporting countries within Sub-Sahara Africa (SSA) in crucial areas of strategic health purchasing (SHP), Healthcare Financing as they make progress towards the realization of Universal Health Coverage (UHC) goals.
